Last Man To Hit .400 For The Season

Sports Trivia

Ted Williams was the last man in major league baseball to have a season batting average over .400. He broke .400 the first time in 1941 when he batted .406, getting six hits in a doubleheader on the final day of the season. He would break it twice more in 1952 when he hit .400 and again in 1953 when he hit .407 for the season. He would retire after the 1960 season and was subsequently inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
