Tallest Mountain On Earth

Geography

Mount Everest, located on the borders of Tibet and Nepal, is the tallest mountain (not located under water) in the world. The mountain was formed about 60 million years ago and rises to a peak of 29,035 feet (8850 metres). Mount Everest was named for Sir George Everest in 1865, a British surveyor-general of India.
