First Blind Climber To Summit Mount Everest
Erik Weihenmayer from Denver, Colorado became the first blind person to climb to the summit of the tallest mountain on earth on May 25, 2001 at the age of 32.
Erik went blind at the age of 13 due to a rare genetic disease of the retina called retinoschisis. Even after loosing his sight he has lead an active life rock climbing, diving, wrestling and dirt bikes.
