Disneyland Opens In California

Opening on July 17, 1955 in Anaheim California, Disneyland was dubbed "The Happiest Place on Earth." In its first year of operation some four million people would visit. The park would be the first of several Disney theme parks and would inspire the rapid growth of theme parks all over North America through the 1970s and 80s.
