The Canadian ice making team at the 2002 Winter Olympics made sure to leave their mark in the ice of the E Center rink. The Edmonton Oilers' ice specialists, responsible for ice making, embedded a Canadian Looney in the ice at center ice to signify that it is 'Canadian ice' and for luck.

Following the games Wayne Gretzky (Team Canada executive director) dug up the coin and gave it to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
