1000 Islands Region Is Actually Home To 1864 Islands

Geography

The 1000 Islands region is located in the Western end of the St. Lawrence river where it enters Lake Ontario. The region is a popular summer destination with a long history.

To officially be counted an island in the region it must be above water 365 days a year and must be home to at least two living trees.

The region is also the namesake for the 1000 Islands salad dressing.
