Music Legend, Ray Charles Dies

At the age of 73, Ray Charles died of complications related to liver disease, on June 10, 2004. Ray Charles, who had lost his sight by the age of 7, was an iconic figure in American music and was refered to as 'the Genius' by Frank Sinatra.

He had put out over 250 albums, won 12 Grammy awards and was an early inductie into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among his credits was his rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's "Georgia On My Mind" which was named the Georgia state song in 1979.
