The Voice Of Mr. Ed

TV & Movies

Allan "Rocky" Lane, veteran of dozens of western movies was the voice of Mr. Ed the horse in the 1961-1966 television series. Initially embarrassed to be playing a horse, he asked that his name be kept off the credits. The credits ran "Mister Ed.. Himself." He changed his mind later when the show was successful, but the producers stuck with the credit.

The horse's real name was Bamboo Harvester. Producers placed a piece of nylon mesh under his top lip cause the horse to flap his lips.

Allan Lane died on October 37, 1973 at the age of 64.
