The Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) is the largest living species of tree on earth. The Sequoia is native primarily to the Sierra Nevada Mountains of eastern California. The largest Sequoia is the General Sherman tree with a height of 250 feet and a diameter near the base of 24.75 feet. The trunk of the tree weighs almost 1400 tons or equivalent to 15 adult blue whales.
